SOUTH CHARLESTON, W. Va. – BridgeValley Community & Technical College and Service Wire Company are expanding their workforce development partnership through a customized Industrial Maintenance Training Program designed to support the company’s ongoing growth at its Culloden, West Virginia headquarters. The initiative strengthens the region’s manufacturing talent pipeline by equipping Service Wire employees with advanced technical skills aligned to modern production needs.
Developed and delivered by BridgeValley’s Division of Technology, the 176–hour program provided targeted upskilling in mechanical systems, electrical theory, hydraulics, pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, motor controls, safety, and industrial troubleshooting. Courses were tailored to Service Wire’s equipment and operational expectations, ensuring immediate relevance on the plant floor.
“BridgeValley is committed to helping employers build the skilled workforce they need to compete and expand,” said Dr. Casey K. Sacks, President of BridgeValley. “Service Wire’s investment in this training program reflects their dedication to their employees and to the economic vitality of West Virginia.”
The cohort included seven Service Wire employees who completed Saturday training sessions between May and November 2025 while working full-time. As part of their final hands-on assessment, participants diagnosed and repaired faulted production machinery directly on the Service Wire plant floor, demonstrating practical readiness for maintenance career pathways.
Service Wire hosted a recognition event on November 8, where leaders including Plant Manager James Bird, Director of Maintenance Jeff Curry, and Director of Human Resources Trish Weisberg commended employees for their hard work and commitment. Graduates received a bonus and are now eligible to compete for new maintenance roles associated with the company’s expansion.
BridgeValley and Service Wire plan to continue refining and scaling the training model to meet evolving workforce needs and support long-term talent development.
