SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. - BridgeValley Community & Technical College will celebrate the 2025 graduation of students from its Workforce INitiative (WIN) Academy on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the South Charleston Community Center, beginning at 11:00 AM.

This year’s featured speaker will be Dr. Sue Forsbrey, a foundational leader in nursing education at BridgeValley. Dr. Forsbrey developed and directed the college’s Nursing program and continues to serve on its advisory committee, as well as the BridgeValley Foundation Board.

“We are honored to have Dr. Forsbrey speak to our WIN graduates,” said Dr. Casey K. Sacks, President of BridgeValley. “Her leadership helped build the foundation these students are standing on today.”

The WIN Academy is a tuition-free, dual-enrollment charter school designed for high school juniors and seniors, offering an accelerated pathway to careers in Nursing and Advanced Manufacturing Technology. Graduates are positioned to finish their associate degrees just one year after high school graduation.

For the second consecutive year, 100% of WIN Academy graduates are continuing their education at the college level—some at BridgeValley, while others are pursuing degrees elsewhere.

Additionally, all WIN students enrolled in the spring Phlebotomy course passed their national certification exam, and one graduate was accepted into BridgeValley’s highly competitive FAME program, which blends classroom learning with paid, real-world industry experience.

“WIN is workforce education at its best,” said Dr. Sacks. “These students are driven, talented, and ready for what’s next. We couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished.”

Media are invited to attend and cover this milestone celebration.
