SOUTH CHARLESTON, W. Va. – BridgeValley Community and Technical College is making it easier for students with West Virginia roots to choose a college close to home. The BridgeValley Board of Governors has approved a new tuition waiver extending in-state tuition rates to out-of-state students who have a parent or grandparent who has lived in West Virginia for at least one year.
The initiative opens the door for more students to benefit from BridgeValley’s affordable, high-quality programs while maintaining meaningful ties to their West Virginia families.
“This new tuition option recognizes that many students who grew up visiting family in West Virginia already feel a strong connection to our state,” said Dr. Casey K. Sacks, President of BridgeValley Community and Technical College. “By making BridgeValley more accessible to those students, we’re helping them turn that connection into opportunity right here in the Mountain State.”
College leaders note that the tuition discount also supports West Virginia’s broader workforce and population growth goals by encouraging talented students from neighboring regions to study, live, and work in the state.
The in-state tuition option is available for eligible new and returning students beginning the upcoming academic term.
