SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. - BridgeValley Community and Technical College will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM to unveil its new Mobile EMS Training Unit—an innovative training vehicle designed to deliver emergency medical services (EMS) education across West Virginia. The event will take place in the main parking lot of Building 2000 (B2000) at BridgeValley’s South Charleston campus, located at 2001 Union Carbide Drive.

The Mobile EMS Training Unit is a repurposed ambulance transformed into a fully functional mobile classroom and simulation lab. This unit was made possible through a grant from the West Virginia Department of Education’s Career and Technical Education division and is part of the college’s broader EMS Jump Start Paramedic Initiative.

The unit brings critical, hands-on EMS training directly to students in rural communities—especially those with limited access to traditional EMS education. By providing mobile, high-quality training opportunities, BridgeValley is helping meet the state’s growing demand for skilled emergency medical professionals and reinforcing its mission of serving communities beyond the classroom.

“This unit is more than a classroom on wheels—it’s a tool that allows us to deliver life-saving skills and training wherever they’re needed most,” said  Jonathan Fannin, EMS Training Program Director at BridgeValley. “It represents our commitment to innovative workforce solutions that meet the needs of both students and the communities they serve.”

The event will include brief remarks from college leadership and partners, a ceremonial ribbon cutting, and an opportunity for guests and media to tour the new training unit.
