Machine Tool Technology

The Machine Tool Technology Associate and Certificate degree programs provide a highly interactive hands-on course of study that prepares graduates for careers in modern industry.  Machinists set up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools.  The MTT program courses are offered two days a week in approximately 8-hour blocks. The certificate can be completed in two semesters, while the associate degree requires five semesters, one of which is a summer semester.

Machinists use their knowledge of the working properties of metals and their skill with machine tools to plan and carry out the operations needed to make machined products that meet precise specifications.  Job titles may include:
